Pambula District Hospital, Merimbola St , Pambula. (02) 6495 8200

Pambula Hospital is a 30 bed public hospital and has an active Emergency Department, Operating Theatre and General Ward. It is staffed by Registered Nurses, Midwives, Enrolled nurses and assistants. The doctors working at Pambula Hospital are the local General Practitioners from Pambula, Merimbula, Eden and Tura Beach acting as Visiting Medical Officers. There are often medical students and nursing students at the hospital.

Specialist surgery is done at Pambula Hospital, with Bega surgeons, Dr A.J. Collins, Dr Andrew Thomson, Dr Rob Hartemink, Dr Christoph Ahrens and Dr Rajesh operating regularly. Local dentists perform dental procedures under general anaesthetic. Anaesthetics are administered by Dr Rob Morton and Dr Geoff Thomas.

Local General Practitioners do various operations and procedures also, particularly Dr Frank Simonson who offers minor gynaecological and general surgery.

Bega Hospital is approx 60 bed general hospital with an active Emergency Department, Obstetric Department, Operating Theatres, High Dependency / Intensive Care Unit, Surgical, Medical and Paediatric Wards. It is a teaching hospital for ANU Medical students and Wollongong Nursing students.

The doctors working at Bega Hospital include Career Medical Officers in the Emergency Department, Registrars and Resident Medical Officers on the wards, local General Practitioners, 3 General Surgeons, 3 Orthopaedic Surgeons, a General Physician and 2 Specialist Anaesthetists. Visiting surgeons include a Gynaecologist and a Urologist.

The Bega Valley Private Hospital provides specialist services including, but not limited to General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Ear Nose & Throat Surgery, Ophthalmology, Sleep Studies and Dental Surgery.

Community Health Centres

The Community Health Centres at Eden, Pambula & Bega provide many aspects of health care including dieticians, diabetic care, wound care, immunisations, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, community nursing, palliative care, cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, genetics and a child development unit.

Pambula has an excellent nursing home - Imlay House. In Merimbula, Bimbimbie Hostel and in Tura Beach, the brand new Mariner Park are low level care facilities managed by Anglicare.
